  White blood cells involved in the immune system.

Definition:  A lymphocyte is a type of white blood cell present in the blood, lymph and lymphoid tissues, and is involved in the immune system.

Lymphocytes have a number of roles in the immune system, including antibody production, attacking and destroying cancer cells, and producing substances that kill cancer cells.

The three major types of lymphocyte are the natural killer (NK) cells, T-cells and B-cells.

Lymphocytes are continuously made in the bone marrow, lymph, nodes, and spleen.
